BUILD NOTES // FROM THE MAKER

The story behind it.

The artifact shows what shipped. These notes preserve the reason, the choices, and what another builder can carry forward.

01 // WHAT IT IS

A single-page PWA for EMOM training (Every Minute On the Minute). You build any rep protocol from fixed blocks or ramps, pick your interval (30s to 2 min), and it runs the whole session: a big countdown ring, beep plus vibrate plus screen flash at every minute change, and a voice that announces the upcoming set before it starts. It holds the screen awake for the full workout, logs every session with weight and RPE, and charts your volume (reps × kg) over time. Installs to your home screen and runs with zero connection. Built for anyone doing kettlebell swings, snatches, or any interval work who keeps losing count mid-set.

02 // WHY IT EXISTS

I do a 30-minute kettlebell swing ladder: 5 reps up to 15, back down, 315 total. Around minute 18, heart rate up, you cannot remember whether you're on round 19 or 20, or how many reps you owe. Every timer I tried counted minutes but not reps, so I was still doing math between sets. I wanted the counting gone from the workout entirely. Just react to the beep and go.

BUILDER'S INSIGHT // STEAL THIS

If you ship a PWA, never use cache-first for your HTML. Mine kept serving the old build no matter how many times I re-uploaded, because the service worker never asked the network. Fix: network-first for navigation requests, cache-first for everything else. Instant updates online, still fully offline. Gotcha: an installed iOS PWA clings to the old worker. Deleting the icon is not enough, you must also clear Safari website data and reboot.
